I completely agree. I have also written a thread about Pro Tour Mode and all its flaws.
As the Tour Mode is getting boring quickly, I have been playing Pro Tour Mode quite a lot. And yes, I have a team of clones with my favorite riders, meaning that I often compete with my clone when sprinting and climbing as the stats are the same. Rodriguez will often ride against Rodriguez on puncher stages, Kittel against Kittel on sprint stages, Contador against Contador on climbs. It just takes the excitement and the sense of simulation and management and rips it apart.
It’s like they decided to make Pro Team Mode with no ambitions at all. As it is now, whey would be better of if they just did not make it at all, and spent the time on polishing some of the other bugs in the game instead. They could have made a killer game mode, a great selling point, and who knows, maybe a good review score for a change?
In general there has never been any ambition with the TDF games at all. It’s like the organizers and owners of Tour de France gave them the contract and the finance to do it, and then Cyanide just did the minimal required to make some sales of the game. No innovation, no ambition and even no serious bug testing. They release it, and then they stop thinking about it until it’s time to copy/paste the game code and make a “new game”.
