Can't get the game to run on Vista

The problem is this: I can't get the game to run. It keeps on crashing whatever I do.

I have read the FAQ and tried everything but none of the steps seem to do anything to help. All of my drivers should be up-to-date.

I thought it may be a memory problem, so I upgraded from 2GB to 3GB but still it won't start.

I'd like to try reinstall the whole thing but if I'm not mistaken I'm able to install the game only three times from the disc after which the disc becomes unusable? You know, I wouldn't like to waste one install for nothing...

My laptop model is Acer Travelmate 5520. Specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 TK-57 ~1,9GHz
RAM: 2814MB DDR2
GPU: Ati Radeon Xpress 1250
DirectX 11

Thanks in advance. :)

Hello,

To update your card, please follow this link http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

If you want to reinstall the game without losing an activation, you only have to click on "cancel" when you are asked to de-activate your key. That way your key will remains in your registry.

I have already updates to most recent drivers. It didn't do the trick.

As for the reinstallation of the game, I tried it just a while ago and it didn't do any good. The game still crashes every time I try to start it. I'm running out of ideas what to do..

Hello laidtorest ,

Have you tried to run the game as an administrator?

1. Open Computer then Local Disk (C:).
2. Open Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder.
3. Open Cyanide folder then Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2011 folder.
4. Right mouse click 'PCM.EXE' (PCM) application file and click Properties.
5. Click Compatibility tab.
6. Check 'Run this program as an administrator' and click OK button.
7. Run the game.

Have you also tried to re-initialize the game? (Beware, it will erase your progress if you don't make a copy of the file named Users)

Please reset the settings of Pro Cycling Manager 2011:

A.

1. Click Windows Start button and click My Documents or Documents.
2. Delete Pro Cycling Manager 2011 folder.

B.

1. Open Computer then Local Disk (C:).
2. Open Users folder.
3. Open your username folder.
4. Open AppData folder (*)
5. Open Roaming folder.
6. Delete Pro Cycling Manager 2011 folder.
7. Run Pro Cycling Manager 2011.
8. Start a new game (now you restart the game with the 1.0.3.0 game version, all issues should be fixed).

We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

(*) Note that on some Windows systems the application data folder is hidden by default.
Here is how to make it visible:
Open the Folder Options by clicking the Start button and click Control Panel.
On the Control Panel, click Appearance and Personalization and click Folder Options.
On the Folder Options, click on the View tab.
Under the Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders and click Ok.

I have tried both tricks before, they didn't work out either. I don't get it, this hardware should be capable of running the game, right? Maybe I should have just sticked with console gaming. :(

Hello

You have a Radeon Xpress 1250 - a graphics card integrated into the motherboard - It is not the best to run games, even though it may work.

A computer diagnosis is necessary:
1. Click Windows Start button or press Windows and R keys.
2. Type DXDIAG in the Search bar (bottom left) or in Run window and press Enter key.

Display tab: the driver date.
Audio tab: name of the audio controller and the driver date.

Hello laitorest

Vos pilotes graphique semblent bien à jour.

Vous pouvez mettre à jour vos pilotes audio Realtek:
WINDOWS VISTA/WINDOWS 7

I don't speak French.

I updated Realtek drivers but it didn't affect anything. The game still crashes.

I get to the point where I can choose "Play", "Manual" etc. When I click play, Windows informs that the program is incompatible with some of the current visual elements and changes the theme automatically to Vista Basic. I have also tried changing the theme to classic Windows look before I run the program. The result - this message of incompatible visual elements doesn't appear but the game still crashes.

There's no error code. It just tells that PCM stopped working. Windows then tries seek for a solution for this problem, but then it shows another message that "A probem interrupted program's normal run".
