How will the multiplayer look like ?The online multiplayer mode of Tour de France 2012 will be centered around 2 players that will be confronted on 1 vs 1 on a fast action paced game on the final kilometers of each stage.
We chose this model because we wanted to give a challenge and an objective to the player, whatever the choice of riders, the final goal will always be to win the stage and/or beat your opponent, and because players can select any available rider, the game will present a race situation in which both players have a similar chance to win, even if one of the players takes a Cavendish and the other players picks a weaker rider, of course, that doesn't mean that anyone can win with any rider, different types of riders will demand different strategies and management and only those players who really master the game will be able to win in all kind of situations.
How many human players can play at the same time ?For this first multiplayer mode the confrontation will be limited to just 2 players, in 1 vs 1.
Is there a ladder and non ladder mode ?Not in the Tour de France online mode, but we are working on an Additional Content package to incorporate Track Cycling to the game, which will allow "ladder" competition (all riders with the same attributes and only the skill of the player will make the difference). There will be some leaderboards attached to this Track mode to make it even more interesting.
Can we ride the whole tour de France online ?No, the game is not designed to support a full Tour de France in multiplayer mode, especially considering we will only play the final kilometers of the stage, it would mean losing some very important and interesting parts that are far from the last 20kms (Grand Colombier for example and other important climbs). Also, the Timetrials are not playable on multiplayer.
