I have just bought the game on Steam. When the game starts it is like the resolution is too big, so it wont fit on the screen - that in turn means that I am not able to reach the options button which I suspect could help me out.

If I set the resolution to maximum (macbook pro running windows, so thats.. 2880xsomething) the game crashes as soon as it reaches the first screen. That seems quite buggy to me.

Is there any way to reset the resolution to something low? I have tried uninstalling the game and re-downloading it on steam, but it remembers everything. Is there any way to tweak the settings without entering the game?

You can edit the options file on your AppData folder.

It does indeed seem to change the resolution - but now the screen is frozen when I open up the game. Like, the mouse wont move anywhere, but the Steam Overlays are responsive, I can tab out and move the mouse etc.

I am indeed a fool for buying a Cyanide Game on release, but come on - usually they are able to start
