Is it still that the equiptment you buy have no influence on how your riders perform?

Equipment should have a slight impact on skills from what I've seen with database editor (Table STA_equipment_delta_charac).

There is a -0.35 / +0.35 skill bonus for frames and wheels (- 0.35 is for 0 star rated equipment and +0.35 is for 6 stars rated one) and a -0.15 / +0.15 skill bonus for helmets.

This may mean that you will get a +0.35 x 2 + 0.15 = +0.85 skill bonus with all 6 stars rated equipments (frame, wheels and helmet). Not a big bonus though but don't forget that you suffer a -0.85 bonus with 0 stars rated equipment, therefore the gap between the worst and the best equipment is 0.85 x 2 = 1.70. These values can be modified with database editor but I've not tested any value change.

Supposed equipment impact with a 70 skill in mountain:
With 0 star rated equipments in mountain (frame, wheels, helmet): Skill is 70 -0.85 = 69.15
With 3 stars rated equipments in mountain (frame, wheels, helmet): Skill is 70 + 0 = 70
With 6 stars rated equipments in mountain (frame, wheels, helmet): Skill is 70 +0.85 = 70.85

In what way have you tested this? It sounds interesting but I would like to know more about it

I didn't perform any test. These values are found by editing the official database (there are the same for years in PCM games). Then, there is the question if these values are really used or not...
