Because they need to get it out before Le Tour starts. Adding a mulitplayer component is a big job. I'm happy for now, and hopefully it will sell well enough to get a yearly release. Maybe then we will see multiplayer in 2012.
I hope it's a good game. The screenshots are very nice, but who knows how it will play. I really hope the AI is spot on. Will the end of stage sprints be played out realistically? Hope so. Will the roadside crowd be animated or just cardboard cutouts?
Will there be a bit of randomness so that replays of the game will produce different results. With no online component and "just" Le Tour available, where will the long term playability come from? Hopefully a stage does actually take a bit of time with a mid stage save option.
So many questions. Very strange to have such a late announcement of a release just a few weeks it goes on sale. Very unusual. I hope the game is properly finished.
