[FRANCAIS]
[ENGLISH]
Pro Cycling Manager 2006 has a bad habit of using CPU (one core) and GPU to 100% whereas it could work fine with lower resources. This heavy load lead to unnecessary power consumption and overheating (and this may lead to high fan noise, especially for laptops).
I have been unable to force V-Sync and limit frame rate with AMD application profiles tool but found another way with Direct3Doverdrive tool from RivaTuner.
Procedure:
1. Install RivaTuner (http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/rivatuner.html)
2. Run "D3DOverrider.exe" from "Tools/D3DOverrider" folder of RivaTuner.
3. Create a profile for PCM.exe and Force VSync (+ Triple Buffering for better performance). Do not close application (minimize instead).
4. Run the game
Some FRAPS Results:
Left: No FPS Limit (520 FPS measured by FRAPS)
Right: FPS Limited (60 FPS measured by FRAPS) with D3D Overrider running.
Some GPU-Z Results:
My ATI/AMD HD5670 was stuck at 100% load. Now GPU load is strongly decreased as the GPU has only to render 60 FPS. Noticable results for overheating (Vddc can drop to lower voltage values now).
EDIT:
Note that you can keep D3DOverrider folder and uninstall RivaTuner if you don't need it. D3DOverrider can run alone.
