As a fan of cycling and this series I have plenty of positive feedback. I love the game in general, game play is fun and the new features are great, particularly the addition of the world championships to the season in pro team / pro leader and the ability to customize in my tour. However I also have some feedback as what I think could improve in next season's edition.
Descending - I think its great that the way AI approach corners on descents is more realistic, however I don't think the GC contenders attack the descents particularly well. For example on stage 18 of this year's edition from Embrun to Valloire, a stage which I believed would be decisive in the real tour, in the game is just a stage on which you can gain 2 or 3 minutes on your rivals. Even if you don't make it over the top with the best, it is easy to attack out of corners and down the descent while GC rivals only really start putting their foot down once it isn't efficient enough to just free ride. While I don't think GC contenders should attack the whole descent, I think it would be great if the AI were altered so that riders would attack out of hairpin bends for a hundred meters or so.
Rider statures - In general this area of the game is ok. However some riders I have noticed are ridiculously sized (such as Matteo Trentin) while others look like they have bones for limbs.
I also noticed that unlike the previous version the favourites for the stage didn't change even if I altered their stats. For example I could give Miguel Angel Lopez 60 mountains and he'd still be a favourite.
Features I'd like to see added:
I know this must have been said a thousand times but I think it would be cool to add in the other grand tours. However I suggest that instead of adding in the whole route / tour, some of the best stages from the Giro and Vuelta in the past should be added into My Tour mode. For example the stage on which Chris Froome launched an 80 km solo attack in 2018, or this year's vuelta stage in which the riders battled it out on Los Machucos.
A new classic (e.g. Il Lombardia.) - The classics are some of my favourite features in the game and I thinks that adding a new classic like the Tour of Lombardy would be exciting.
Weather - One thing that I feel is missing from the game (although probably for the better) is factors that cannot be controlled. I think that there could be a system in which there is a chance (e.g. 10%) that a stage "rain" for weather. Visually nothing would change much except the sky would become darker, there could be a droplet effect at the sides of the screen where it doesn't get in the way and the road could appear wet. However on a "wet" stage there could be a higher probability of crashes occurring especially on descents and bunch sprints. I feel like adding factors that cannot be controlled might be irritating if it ruins your stage, but it adds to the immersion.
Finally I think it would be cool if you were able to (like in Fifa) transfer riders between teams. This would allow for you to play with different rosters in My Tour, and would also allow you to make adjustments to rosters following the real tour de France when the Transfer Season opens.
