About one out of two, one out of three races, I get a runtime error.

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I have done all the research and read all the forums, and it always comes down to the same. Support asks the logs, then asks to lower video settings. I've tried the video settings, this just causes the game to crash in a different way (shutdown).
From what I have read, this issue occurs since 2009, so I would expect a game developer like Cyanide to properly know about it right now and to be able to give a solution.
Please help me with a constructive solution.
A big PCM fan (who wishes the game had less technical issues but still buys it...)
